Set in the Moscow metro system in the years following a nuclear apocalypse, Metro puts radiation at the very center of its story. Based on Dmitry Glukhovsky’s series of novels, the Metro games are worth bringing up in any discussion of the STALKER series because in certain ways they surpass it. Many of you will likely be familiar with Metro 2033 and its sequel Last Light, the games I feel echo most closely the feel of STALKER. And some of these, as you’ll see below, in their own way anticipated the disaster that took place in Pripyat. In this way, STALKER’s story of atomic catastrophe exists in a constellation of objects and memories inspired by radiological fear. This is exactly the fear that STALKER taps into-runaway technology that has the power to change something fundamental about the possibility of human survival. While I watched the 2011 Fukushima nuclear accident unfold from half-a-world away, Chernobyl was the name that kept flashing through my mind. It’s become the yardstick we use to measure all manner of technological hubris and catastrophe. I'd never used mods before, and that one just makes the game AMAZING.The 1986 Soviet nuclear disaster has proven to be the kind of historical moment whose infamy hasn’t faded at all with the passage of time.
I just started using it after deciding to replay the game awhile ago. Alternatively, I've seen things I've dropped on the ground remain there for ages.never really seeming to go away.Īlso, I would highly suggest you check out the Complete 2009 pack in the sidebar.
I'm not sure if all containers are safe to store things in, but I suppose if you're desperate it couldn't hurt to try. Something might happen, then all of the loot you've built up just goes poof. Also, I've heard about the loot randomizing on bodies occasionally, so you never know. Some, as said already in the comments here, won't despawn, but a lot will. But, a tip: NEVER store your things on bodies. I've stored my things in these quite often. There's the chest in the bunker you first wake up in (it's behind you, on the floor, in the corner to the left of the door) and the chest in the Bar. To my knowledge there are only two safe containers in the entire game.
