Since your HP is (at least) 2 years old, the warranty will have expired. The upshot is that, eventually, the spot is likely to get bigger rather than smaller. The pixels that seemed dead may have activated 'by mistake' giving the impression that the spot moves. The fact that the spot moves suggests that the impact sustained 2 years ago has caused addtional pixels to malfunction.
What could have cause the black dot and for it to have moved after two years? I believed it to be dead pixels, but can dead pixels move like that? It has not changed at all since the initial damage. Today while working on my computer, the dot moved down about and inch. About two years ago my computer screen got dropped and a large black dot appeared on the top left corner of the screen.
